Gabriela Ribeiro

Gabriela Ribeiro is Professor of Nutrition and Metabolism at the Nova Medical School, Faculty of Medical Sciences, of the New University of Lisbon and a clinical nutritionist at the CUF Descobertas Hospital.

Gabriela has a PhD in neurosciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL), where she carried out research at the Champalimaud Foundation's neuropsychiatry unit on markers related to food reward in obesity and weight loss prediction after bariatric surgery. She then undertook post-doctoral training on the impact of diet on the microbiota - gut - brain axis at the APC Microbiome, University College Cork in Ireland.

Her academic training began with a degree in nutritional sciences at the University of Porto, followed by a master's degree in Metabolic Diseases and Eating Behaviour at FMUL). Gabriela also has SCOPE certification from the World Obesity Federation. Her aim is to integrate research into eating behaviour and the microbiota - gut - brain axis in order to improve care for patients with obesity and eating disorders.
