Milena Miranda de Moraes

Milena Moraes is a PhD researcher at the Centre for Research in Anthropology and Health at the University of Coimbra and a visiting adjunct professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Portuguese Red Cross Higher School of Northern Health.
She has a degree in Nutrition from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a specialisation in Clinical Nutrition with a focus on Cardiology and high complexity from Hospital Pró-Cardíaco, a Master's degree in Human Nutrition and a PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the Postgraduate Programme in Nutrition at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. After three years of experience as a doctoral researcher and lecturer in Brazil, she began her professional activity in Portugal, joining the Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health (ITR) in the "Food habits assessment and determinants" Laboratory at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto in 2019. In January 2024, she joined the Centre for Research in Anthropology and Health at the University of Coimbra.
Her areas of professional interest are nutritional and obesity epidemiology, with a particular interest in anthropometric and body composition assessment, cardiometabolic risk, eating habits, dietary surveys and consumption of ultra-processed foods.
