Jana Hainsworth

Jana is a recently established independent consultant based in Brussels. She works with philanthropy, civil society & the public sector to ensure EU policies & funding support social inclusion & children's rights. Jana was Secretary General of Eurochild from 2006 to 2022. She led the growth of the network & its impact on EU policies & funding.  Thanks in part to Eurochild’s activism, the EU adopted a European Child Guarantee. Significant EU resources are now available for Member States to ensure all children in need have access to decent housing, education, early childhood education & care, nutrition & healthcare.  Eurochild also led the campaign 'Opening Doors for Europe's Children' (2013-2019), which helped national civil society advocate for deinstitutionalisation reforms. Prior to joining Eurochild, Jana has worked in communications, policy research & consultancy & led a youth network promoting long-term voluntary service.
