Maria Sidalina Almeida

Maria Sidalina Almeida has been a lecturer at the Porto Higher Institute of Social Work since 1989. She teaches on the undergraduate programmes in Social Work and Social Gerontology and on the master's programmes in Social Gerontology, Social Intervention in Children and Young People at Risk of Social Exclusion and Social Work, and has supervised several students' final projects in these different teaching cycles.
She has a degree in Social Work from ISSSP, a Master's in Social Work and Social Policy from PUC/SP and a PhD in Educational Sciences from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at the University of Porto.
She is a member of the Lusíada Centre for Research in Social Work and Social Intervention at Lusíada University.
She is the author of scientific articles in the areas of social intervention in the school context, children and young people at risk, young people's transitions between school, vocational training and the world of work, and social gerontology.
She participates in the development of research and action research projects in the areas of social intervention in childhood and youth, social work in education and social gerontology.
