Sónia Maria Cunha Ferreira de Almeida
Graduated in Social Work, she has been the National Coordinator of the Child Guarantee since 2021. With more than 15 years of experience in the field of childhood and youth, she has worked in Pediatrics in a hospital setting; she was responsible for a project on the Qualification of Intervention and Social Responses for children and young people at the Lisbon District Center of Social Security; and she served as an advisor in ministerial offices, participating in the regulatory processes of foster care and residential care for children and young people.
She took part in the reception, shelter, and integration programs for unaccompanied minors arriving from Greece, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. She is currently a member of two working groups dedicated to studying and presenting proposals aimed at expanding access to early childhood education and developing a unified National Strategy for the protection and promotion of the rights of children and young people.
She is also a member of the Council of Europe Consultation Group on the Children of Ukraine.
