Médico Interno de Psiquiatria da Infância e Adolescência (CHULN)

Internal Physician of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Pedopsychiatry) in the Serviço de Psiquiatria e Saúde Mentalda Infância e Adolescência (SPSMIA) of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte (CHULN) - Hospital de Santa Maria and Hospital Pulido Valente. In 2016, he finished his Integrated M.Sc in Medicine at the Faculdade de Lisboa and had his internship in Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, where he worked in the are of Psychiatry and Pedopsychiatry. Founding member and General Coordinator of the Sexual Education Project SexED ( since 2012. He finished his post-graduation degree in Sexuality Counselling and Sexual Education, at the Sociedade Portuguesa de Sexologia Clínica (SPSC) and started his training in Sexual Therapy. He attended the European Society of Sexual medicine in 2017 and is a member  of ESSM since 2015. He is an Instructor Certified by IEFP (CAP/CPP) and has given workshops and courses to Medical students  and professionals in the area of Child and Adolescent Mental Health in the area of Educational Sexology, Gender ( Identity and Dysphoria), Biological Sex and diversity of Sexual Development.  


Rui Ferreira Carvalho is general coordinator of SexED and is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Intern at Hospital de Santa Maria. Specialized in Educational Sexology and Sexual Counseling and in Clinic Sexology at SPSC; he is curruntly undergoing  training in Sex Therapy. Has scientific and pedagogical education from CAOJ and in Sexual Medicine from ESSM. Some of his areas of interest are Gender Identity, diversity of sexual development (DSD) and mental health of young people LGBTQIA+
