Ana Lacerda

Pediatrician oncologist, consultant at IPOFG-Lisboa. With a Mater degree in Cuidados Paliativos (King’s College London). Invited Assistant Professor at Nova Medica School.

Coordinator of GdT of Cuidados Continuados e Paliativos of Sociedade Portuguesa de Pediatria and of the Paediatrician Support Group of Associação Portuguesa de Cuidados Paliativos. Member of the Comissão Coordenadora do Observatório Português de Cuidados Paliativos and of the committee Diretivo do Grupo de trabalho Pediátrico of Associação Europeia de Cuidados Paliativos. Vice-president of Associação Portuguesa de Cuidados Paliativos, 2018-2020. National Commission for Maternal, Child and Adolescence Health, 2019-20. Colaborares regularly with Ministério da Saúde.

Ana Maria Domingues de Almeida Forjaz de Lacerda, graduated from Faculdade de Medicina de Lisboa since 1988.

Her specialisation is in Medical Paediatrics (1991-1996) in Portugal and in the USA. 

She has been working as a Graduated Hospital Assistant at the  Paediatrics Department of the Portuguese Institute of Oncology- in the center of Lisbon since April 1997.

In 2004 she was recognised, by consensus in Ordem dos Médicos, to the subspecialty of Paediatric Oncology.

With a Master’s degree in Cuidados Paliativos by King’s College London / Cicely Saunders Institute (scholarship holder from Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, from the project DINAMO). Award Dame Cicely Saunders for Academic Excellence in Palliative Care (2014).

Invited assistant Professor at Faculdade de Ciências Médicas of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, being leader of the Optional Curriculum Unit (Cuidados Paliativos Pediátricos”, since September 2015.

Between 2005-2007 she was the coordinator of the project “Organização de uma rede de cuidados paliativos em Oncologia Pediátrica” (scholarship from Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian). Since then, she has been concerned with developing the area of Cuidados Continuados e paliativos, being responsible for editing several guides to support professionals and carers.

She is the coordinator of the working group of Cuidados paliativos Pediátricos created of Sociedade Portuguesa de Pediatria and from the Grupo de Apoio à Pediatria from Associação Portuguesa de Cuidados Paliativos since 2013.

In June 2014, she was  appointed coordinator of the Grupo de Trabalho de Cuidados Paliativos Pediátricos created by order of the SEAMS office. Since then, she has been collaborating with the Ministério da saúde in the implementation of a national paediatric care response, and is currently part of the Paediatric Working Group on Integrated Continued Care Reform.

Between May 2015 and January 2018, she was coordinator of the Conselho Técnico-Ciéntifico of IPSS aTTITUDE, under the project “Vamos Cuidar” - www.cuidandojuntos.org.pt.

She’s part of the Comissão Coordenadora do Observatório Português de Cuidados Paliativos, since October 2015, being responsible for the area of Paediatric.

She’s part of the Comité Diretivo do Grupo de Trabalho Pediátrico of the Associação Europeia de Cuidados Paliativos, since March 2017, being nominated co-cordinator in november 2019.

In January 2018, was elected vice-president of Associação Portuguesa de Cuidados Paliativos.

She is still part of the Comissão Nacional de Saúde Materna, da Criança e do Adolescente, 2019-20.
